冬日的暖阳缓缓升起，湖州帕丁顿双语学校国际高中部的每周一次的晨会又一次如期举行了。晨会是针对同学们进行上周学习总结和本周学习规划的平台。同学们和老师们可以自由交流学习心得，畅谈社会热点话题。

As the winter sun slowly rose, the weekly morning briefing of the International High School Section was held as planned. The morning briefing sums up students’ learning in the last week and makes study plans for this week. It’s a place where students and teachers exchange their learning ideas and talk about heated social issues.

国际高中部校长周业勤先生谈到：

Mr. Zhou Yeqin, head of the International High School Section said,

“从开学**周到现在，我们每周都会进行晨会，一开始同学们使用汉语发言都会比较害羞，表达也不够流利。但现在他们使用英语发言十分连贯和自信，每周都会期待在晨会上展示自己，每一位同学都有了很大的进步!”

“we’ve made morning briefing a weekly routine from the first week of school. At the very beginning, some of the students were shy and could not express themselves clearly even in Chinese, but now they can speak fluently and confidently in English. They look forward to express their ideas on the assembly every week. I have seen great progress in all of them!”

本周的晨会主题取自《荀子·劝学》——学不可以已。周宁老师用中文发言，吴昊冉同学进行英语翻译。

The theme of this week’s morning briefing is taken from Xunzi•Encouraging Learning—Never Stop Learning.

刚进入湖州帕丁顿时，吴昊冉同学的英语基础较为薄弱，但通过近一个学期的学习后，他的英语水平已经取得了跨越式的进步。在讲台上为老师进行脱稿同步翻译的他神情自若，发音标准，获得了老师和同学们雷鸣般的掌声。

In today’s speech, teacher Zhou Ning spoke in Chinese and Gru interpreted in English. When first getting into Huzhou Paddington, Gru was weak in English but has now made fascinating progress after nearly a semester of study. He looked so poised on stage, his pronunciation was impeccable and he did the whole interpretation without referring to the notes, winning thunderous applause from teachers and students.

今日的发言是一个具有重大意义的时刻——之前的晨会都是由学生进行中文发言，老师进行英语翻译，而今天双方的**进行了对调，这也说明了同学们的英语水准已经迈向了更高的台阶!

Today’s speech is a moment of great significance. All speeches before were delivered by students in Chinese and interpreted by teachers. But today, the roles were switched, showing a higher level of English proficiency of our students!

下面就让我们一起来看看本次由师生共同完成的发言吧：

大家早上好，今天我要演讲的主题是“学不可以已”。

Good morning, my topic today is “Never Stop Learning”.

对于“活到老，学到老”这样的俗语，我们并不陌生。

It is not new to us about the saying of “never too old to learn”.

那么这究竟是为什么，为什么我们要这样做呢?

But why? Why are we doing this?

就我看来，答案很简单，无非有二。

I think the answer is very simple, there are two reasons。

1. 遗忘的存在。

The first reason is that it is easy for us to forget things.

心理学家说过：知识就是你在学了，看了好多书之后，又都忘了，只剩下那记得模糊的一点。

A psychologist once said, after your reading a lot of books, only a little has been left. You only have a vague memory of them.

而只有那一点，才是你最终拥有的知识。

And only this little thing is your knowledge.

这就是著名的艾宾浩斯记忆曲线。

This is the famous Ebbinghaus Forgetting Curve.

2. 知识的更新。

The second reason is the updates of knowledge.

我们生活在一个信息大爆炸的时候，知识的更替不是日新月异而是分分秒秒的更新。

We live in an information explosion time, and the knowledge changes by seconds, not by days.

很有可能昨天知道的信息，今天就已经被推翻了。

The information we knew yesterday may be no longer right today.

那么怎么才能够让自己剩下的那一点知识变得更多呢?

But how can we make this little thing bigger?

那就要求我们不断学习，充实自己，不停地向大脑补充精神食粮。

That asks us to keep learning and feeding our brains.

针对遗忘本性，不断夯实重复直到变成长期记忆。

As for forgetfulness, we need to keep reviewing and turn it into long-term memory.

针对知识更替，始终保持求知欲和探索精神。

As for the knowledge updates, always stay hungry and explore the new world.

学不可以已。
