湖州帕丁顿双语学校国际部一直将“培养精通未来高科技的优秀管理人才”作为育人目标之一，为此，湖州帕丁顿双语学校组织国际部有关师生前往以科技创新而著称的上海交通大学。

“Cultivating outstanding management talents that excel in future high technology” is one of the goals of the School’s International Department. To this end, the School arranged for teachers and students of the International Department, a visit to Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) which is famous for its technological innovation.

As one of China’s oldest and most famous university that’s well-acclaimed both home and abroad, SJTU has evolved into a comprehensive, research-oriented and internationalized university after 122 years of unremitting efforts. It’s now a domestic first-class university that enjoys international reputation.

为了让对医学研究感兴趣的学生能够深度了解相关科研程序，我们先来到上海交大国家级重点生物科技研究实验室，实验室的老师们热情地接待了国际部师生一行，并让学生们体验了一节有趣的微生物实验课。

To enable students interested in medical research to gain an in-depth knowledge of related research procedures, we first came to the University’s national-level key biotechnology research laboratory where our teachers and students were warmly received by the laboratory staff and had a full-of-fun microbiology experiment class.

It was the first time that our students found that the world under the microscope could be so colorful.

实验课程结束后，国际部师生来到交大校史馆。

After the experiment class, our teachers and students came to the history museum where they learned the origin of SJTU.

据了解，十九世纪末，甲午战败，民族危难。中国近代著名实业家、教育家盛宣怀秉持“自强首在储才，储才必先兴学”的信念，于1896年在上海创办了交通大学的前身——南洋公学。带着对百年交大的敬畏，对民族复兴的展望，同学们参观了上海交通大学校史馆。

At the end of the 19th century, China lost the First Sino-Japanese War and the whole nation was in danger. At this time of peril, Sheng Xuanhuai, a well-known modern Chinese industrialist and educator, founded Nanyang Public School, the predecessor of SJTU, in 1896, holding the belief that “To become strong, we first need to train talents and to train talents, we first need to value education”. With reverence for the century-old university and the expectation of national rejuvenation, the students finished their visit to the history museum.

在学长的带领和解说下，同学们了解了百年交大的教育历史和人文情怀，也开始激发起对这所被誉为“东方麻省理工”的高等院校的向往。

During the visit, senior students from the University explained to us the University’s education history and humanistic spirit, arousing our students’ desire to someday become part of the University, which is known as the “Oriental MTI”.

由于许多同学对于电子信息十分感兴趣，未来选择国外高校和专业也有此方面的志愿，于是我们整队动身前往电子信息与电气工程学院，同时也参观了电工电子国家级实验教学示范中心。

As many students are enthusiastic about electronic information and intend to specialize in this area in their future choice of foreign universities and major, so we then headed off to the University’s School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering and visited the National Demonstration Center for Experimental Electrical Education.

同学们受到了院系领导、相关老师及学长的热情欢迎和接待，参观了具有现代感的历史文化馆和教室。多次组织指导交大学子荣获全国大学生电子设计竞赛全国冠军的张老师，还十分耐心、系统的为学生们进行讲解，详细的介绍了本院系相关专业概况、教学科研成果，以及培养学生创新能力的具体方案。全国创新大赛冠军团队学长还特别为我们介绍了他们设计的参赛作品及成功经验。

Our students were warmly welcomed and received by the faculty leaders, teachers and senior students, and visited the historical and cultural hall and classrooms that have a strong modern feel. Mr. Zhang, who has repeatedly led SJTU students to win the championship in the National Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest, patiently and systematically explained to our students and introduced in detail the School’s majors, teaching and scientific research results, as well as its specific plans to train students’ innovation ability. Champions of the National Innovation Contest also introduced to us their works submitted for the contest and their successful experiences.

此次科研创新体验活动，让国际部的同学们不仅感受到国家人文和科技的飞速发展，加强了对现代科技前沿的了解，同时也让大家更加明确未来大学和专业的选择，以及未来的人生目标和职业生涯发展规划。

Through this research and innovation visit to SJTU, our students felt the country’s rapid human and technological development and gained a deeper insight into cutting-edge modern technologies. At the same time, it enabled students of the International Department to make better-informed decisions when choosing their future universities and majors, or developing their future life goals and career development plans.
