With the increase of industrial emissions and automobile exhaust emissions, air pollution is affecting our life in every possible way. The PM2.5 value in many cities has stayed high in recent years, causing heavy haze and seriously affecting the air quality.So, to build an eco-friendly school for students, Huzhou Paddington Bilingual School has been unswervingly implementing the concept of creating a green and eco-friendly school environment.

湖州帕丁顿绿色环保校园的建设离不开学校的努力和坚持，离不开投资方的理解和支持。

Building Huzhou Paddington into a green and eco-friendly school cannot do without the School’s efforts and insistence, or the investors’ understanding and support.

钱坤方先生来到湖州帕丁顿双语学校担任执行校长后，仍像在安吉抓生态县一样，十分重视校园的绿色环保理念，坚持为孩子们营造一份绿色空间，他说道：

After taking the post of Executive Principal of the School, Mr. Qian Kunfang greatly values the idea of environmental protection in school building just like when he was managing the Anji Eco-County. He insists on creating a green space for kids and said that

“一所新建的学校一定要让家长们放心，因此我们从建校以来一直要求投资方注重校园的环保，而这个提议也得到了投资方的支持和肯定。”

“A new school must make parents feel assured, and we have been asking the investors to focus on environmental protection since the day the School was founded. Luckily, this concept has been supported and affirmed by the investors.”

因此湖州帕丁顿不仅在施工时采用了环保的建筑材料，更创新式地在校园里引进了许多先进的环保设备。

For this purpose, besides using eco-friendly building materials during construction, the School also innovatively introduced a slew of advanced environmentally friendly equipment.

新风系统的采用

Using of Fresh Air System

绿色环保校园建设的重点工程之一就是学校新风系统的配备。湖州帕丁顿在每个教室、实验室以及宿舍都设置了新风系统，配备了新风机。

One of the key aspects of green school construction is the installation of fresh air system. Every classroom, lab and dorm room of the School is equipped with fresh air system and the fresh air machine.

在新风机配置上，湖州帕丁顿在教学区域采用立柜式内机，在宿舍采用壁挂式内机。

Cabinet type machines and wall mounted machines are used respectively in teaching areas and dorm rooms.

那么湖州帕丁顿设置新风系统有什么奇效呢?

So what are the benefits of the school’s new air system?

小帕这就给大家列举一二：Here let’s look at some of them:

1、新风系统能交换室内外空气。室外空气经过过滤后，以优质的新鲜空气进入室内;室内的不良空气经新风机排到室外。

The new air system allows indoor and outdoor air circulation. After being filtered, high-quality fresh outdoor air will get into the room and the indoor bad air will be discharged.

以当前冬季频发的小儿流感为例，新风系统能够有效驱除室内病菌，降低孩子们罹患呼吸道感染疾病的发病率。

Take flu that attacks kids frequently in winter for example, the new air system can effectively kill indoor germs and reduce the risk of respiratory tract infection in children.

2、在空气有污染的时间段及寒冷的冬季，新风系统代替了传统的开窗通风的换气方式，使的孩子们能在更加安全的教室里学习。

In times of air pollution and cold winters, the fresh air system replaces the traditional air circulation method of opening windows, allowing kids to learn in much safer classrooms.

Principal’s Fog Meter

趁着阳光大课间的时间，钱校长走进了701班，与这里的孩子们一起探究新风系统的神奇之处。

During the class break, Mr. Qian came to Class 701 and explored the magic of the fresh air system with the students.

他给孩子们介绍道：

He said to them that

“我手里有一个霾表，它能够帮我们测出PM2.5的数值，我们一起探究一下新风系统的作用。”

“I have a fog meter in my hand which can help us to measure the value of PM2.5. So let’s find out what the fresh air system can do.”

首先，钱校长将霾表置于室外，室外的PM数值为147.3，这说明空气已经达到中度污染级别，对健康人群的心脏和呼吸系统有一定的影响。

First, Mr. Qian placed the meter outdoors and the meter reading rose to 147.3, indicating a moderate level of air pollution which will have a certain negative impact on the heart and respiratory system of healthy people.

那么再对比一下室内开启了新风系统后的空气，钱校长将霾表置于室内，其上显示的PM2.5数值迅速下降，最后降至9左右。这说明教室内空气在新风系统的作用下已净化为最优空气，完全没有污染。

Then a comparison was made to the indoor air quality with the fresh air system turned on. Mr. Qian placed the fog meter indoors and the reading dropped fast to finally stay at around 9. This showed that the classroom air had been fully purified by the fresh air system to be free from pollution.

孩子们对于这样的改变十分好奇，也拿起了校长的霾表测试起来，钱校长对孩子们说道：“新风系统能够让你们在教室里呼吸到新鲜空气，保护大家的健康，同学们要注意开启教室、寝室的新风系统!”

All kids were curious about such a change and did tests with the principal’s fog meter. Mr. Qian explained “The fresh air system allows you to breathe fresh air in the classroom to safeguard your health. So please make sure to turn on the fresh air system both in the classroom and the dormitory!”

播种一片绿色空间

Creating a Green Space

建设绿色校园，为孩子们营造绿色环保的校园环境，湖州帕丁顿双语学校一直从未止步：

The School has never stopped its efforts to build a green school and create a green and echo-friendly school environment for students:

8月22日，湖州帕丁顿双语学校邀请家长共同见证和参与了学校塑胶跑道的检测程序。9月6日，湖州帕丁顿双语学校通过学校的公众号正式对外发布“浙江省体育用品质量检验中心”对我校跑道的检测结果——我校塑胶跑道符合环保标准。

On Aug. 22, the School invited parents to witness and participate in the testing of its plastic track conducted by Zhejiang Center of Quality Test for Sports Products and officially announced the test results through its WeChat account on Sept. 6. The School’s track conforms to the requirements of all environmental standards.

9月10日，**届家委会召开，我校执行校长钱坤方先生向家委会成员公布了湖州市建设工程质量检测站检测中心对于我校室内环境的检测报告——我校建筑工程方已通过工程方面的环保监测。接受检测的建筑*括：小学教学楼以及宿舍楼。检测表明接受检测的建筑已经符合Ⅰ类民用建筑工程的限量标准。

On Sept. 10, the First Parent Committee Meeting was held where the Executive Principal of the School Mr. Qian Kunfang announced Huzhou Municipal Construction Engineering Testing Station Testing Center’s test report for the School’s indoor environment. The result shows that the construction work has passed all environmental protection tests.The buildings tested included: elementary school teaching buildings and dormitory buildings. The test results show that the tested buildings have met the limits and standards for Class I civil construction works.

9月24日晚，湖州帕丁顿双语学校再度公开进行了教室、宿舍环保的第三方检测。9月28日，我校取得室内空气质量检测报告，检测结果已经符合GB/T18883-2002《室内空气质量标准》的标准。

On the evening of Sept. 24, the School publicly conducted a new round of third-party environmental testing of classrooms and dormitories. We received the indoor air quality test report on Sept. 28 and the test results showed compliance with GB/T18883-2002Indoor Air Quality Standards.
