帕丁顿人的教育情怀Education Vision
2017年9月4号,国际高中在家长的期待和同仁们怀疑的目光中终于开学了。
On Sept. 4th , 2017, the International High School section finally opened with the expectation from parents and suspicion from people in the educational circle.
和大多数国际学校一样,帕丁顿国际高中首先面临的是生源质量和数量的双重问题。
Like most international schools, Paddington International High School faces the dual problems: The quality and quantity of students.
“三年或四年后,我们一定会让孩子们被美国正规大学录取。”
“In 3 or 4 years, we will surely have your kids accepted by formal U.S. universities.”
在开学典礼上执行校长钱坤方先生庄严承诺,同时表达了帕丁顿人的责任和当担,抒发了帕丁顿人的教育情怀。
The school’s Executive Principal Mr. Qian Kunfang promised at the opening ceremony. On the ceremony, Mr. Qian also explained the duties and responsibilities of Paddington and expressed the education vision of all Paddington staff.
针对性的教学计划Teaching Plan
在国际高中**次教师会上,国际高中部校长周业勤先生将国际高中2017——2018学年上学期的教学**分为两个阶段:九月为**阶段;十月-2018年一月为第二阶段。
At the first International High School teachers’ meeting, the principal of the International High School Mr. Zhou Yeqin divided the teaching work of the first semester of 2017-2018 academic year into two stages: Stage 1: Sept, 2017, stage 2: Oct. 2017-Jan. 2018.
针对以前同学们没有接触过全英语的授课模式,所以周校长在**阶段提出了以下计划:
Considering that students had never had English-only classes before, Mr. Zhou developed the following plan for Stage 1:
1、以两个“听懂”为切入点,解决学生与外教的交流问题。
Starting from 2 “understandings” to conquer the communication barriers with foreign teachers.
2、通过一个月的衔接课程对每个学生的学术水平精准定位,为第二阶段的分层教学奠定基础。
Get an accurate idea of each student’s English level through one-month bridging classes, laying a good foundation for the stratified teaching in Stage 2.
3、让中外两支教师队伍在**中相互交流,相互学习,取长补短,打造一支中西文化兼容高素质的教师队伍。
Allowing Chinese and English teachers to exchange ideas and learn from other, so to build a team of high-quality teachers that embrace both Chinese and western cultures.
4、一个月以后中方英语老师从外教的课堂撤出来,外教独立开展教学。
After one month, Chinese teachers withdraw and leave the students to foreign teachers.
为了实现**阶段的教学**目标,一个以学生为主体的教学教研氛围悄然形成。
In the process of realizing the teaching objectives of Stage 1, a student-centered teaching atmosphere gradually formed.
老师们将传统课程与开放式课堂相结合,将英语教学与日常生活相融合,使得同学们很快便适应了全英语的课堂模式。
Traditional courses were combined with open classes, while English teaching was made part of everyday life to get students quickly adapt to the English-only teaching mode.

1、展现自我的改变
More Confidence in Self-presentation
教育的首要任务之一是培养学生积极向上的人格,因此国际高中部将“诚信、自信“作为开学**周的活动主题。同学们在公办学校的课堂上缺乏展示自我的机会,因此走上讲台之后都略显紧张。
One of the primary tasks of education is to teach students to be positive and have a optimistic personality. Therefore, the school took “integrity and self-confidence” as the theme of the first week. In public schools, students are lacked the chance to present themselves so they had stage fright when standing on the podium.
为了让大家放松,老师们带头与学生们分享自己的人生经历和热点话题,为学生营造了一个轻松分享的氛围。终于,在老师的带动下,同学们重拾自信。
To help them relax, teachers took the lead in sharing their life experiences and ideas on hot issues, creating for students a free and easy atmosphere. Finally, the students regained their confidence under the guidance of teachers.
在日常的校园生活中,同学们拥有许多的机会展示自己,无论是每周的晨会还是开放式的课堂环境都给大家提供了磨练自我,展示自信的平台。
Every day in the school, students are given plenty of chances to show themselves. The weekly morning briefing and open classes are both perfect platforms for them to challenge themselves and demonstrate self-confidence.
所以在**次国际高中家长会会上,家长们看着同学们一个个充满自信,彬彬有礼的站在发言台上,进行以 “爸妈我最想对您们说...”为主题的发言时,都感动不已。
All parents were greatly touched at the first parents’ meeting when students stepped on the stage and confidently made speeches around the theme “Daddy and mommy, I really want to tell you…”.
时至今日,几位同学已经能够独立进行中英双文演讲和脱稿同声翻译。
Now, some of them are able to deliver speeches both in Chinese and English and do simultaneous interpretation without notes.
2、自理能力的改变
Improved Self-care Ability
在进入湖州帕丁顿之前,七位同学几乎没有尝试过寄宿生活,自理能力有些欠缺。所以在国际高中**次晨会上,周校长给同学们明确提出:今后无论是在学校还是在家里,自己的日常事务必须自己独立处理。一个星期以后每位同学的内务整理必须达到军营标准。
Before coming to Huzhou Paddington, the 7 students had no boarding life experience and lacked the ability to take care of themselves. So at the first morning briefing, Mr. Zhou made it clear that “you must tidy up your own room all by yourselves both at school or home. Each of you must meet the housekeeping standards for military solders in 1 week.”
通过规范的管理,同学们的自理能力得到了提升。
Unified and standardized management improved all students’ self-care ability.
在第二次家长会上,同学们洁净、整齐划一的房间顿时使得走入寝室的家长们感到震惊。有家长感叹:从未想过自己的孩子能把寝室打理得这么整洁。
At the second parents’ meeting, all parents were surprised when walking into the tidy and clean dorms. Some even said: I never expected that my child can get the room so tidy and clean.
3、老师用心,同学努力
Efforts by both Teachers and Students
一个月的衔接课程结束了,通过学业水平测试将七位同学分成三个班级,进行分层教学。每个同学拿到的都是不一样的课表,真正地实践了学校的办学理念:适合的教育就是比较好的教育。
After the one-month bridging courses, the 7 students that passed the academic proficiency test were put into 3 classes for stratified teaching. Each student got the personalized class schedule and the school truly practiced its educational philosophy: The best education is one that suits you.
同学们通过一个月的STEAM课程强化后,斩获了WER2017赛季世界锦标赛决赛的一等奖和三等奖,以及2017湖州市新华书店杯中小学机器人大赛的一等奖和三等奖,为学校赢得了众多的荣誉。
After one-month STEAM intensive courses, they brought home first and third prizes in the finals of the WER2017 World Championships and first and third prizes of 2017 Huzhou Xinhua Bookstore Cup Robot Competition for Primary and Middle Schools.
成长的故事还在继续,湖州帕丁顿国际高中正在茁壮成长,青春的成长离不开拼搏和汗水,愿每一个在帕丁顿的孩子都能拥有更加灿烂的明天!
