Our liberal arts for education degree consists of a diverse multiple-subject program organized around a cohesive academic plan. Designed to prepare students academically, socially, and culturally, the liberal arts for education degree program facilitates a well-rounded knowledge base by drawing from all seven major academic disciplines.

Liberal Arts for Education Degree

Our liberal arts for education major program provides a cross-disciplinary academic degree for students interested in cultivating a comprehensive understanding of the liberal arts or pursuing a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential.

Our Curriculum

The liberal arts for education major is designed to give a comprehensive background distributed among the following disciplines: fine arts; language; religion, philosophy, and culture; history; English composition and literature; social science; human development; mathematics; and natural science. The program includes three education courses that also meet requirements in the Teacher Preparation Program.

A student who graduates with a major in Liberal Arts for Education should be able to:

Demonstrate a broad knowledge base in the disciplines of natural science, fine arts, social science, mathematics, English, and human development.

Deliver a formal, academic presentation that develops appropriate and compelling content based on educational research.

Write an extended informational text that develops appropriate and compelling content based on educational research using formal, academic language and style.

Conduct critical, systematic educational research that analyzes and synthesizes information from a range of sources.

Discern and address the moral and spiritual foundations and implications of teaching and learning.
