专业概况
在这里学什么？ Ship Science covers all aspects of maritime engineering, including the design, construction and testing of the vessels and offshore structures that use the ocean for transport, recreation and the harnessing of marine resources. This three-year course covers the theoretical principles of naval architecture and marine engineering alongside practical laboratories, design modules and projects.The first two years are the same for both the BEng and MEng Ship Science, providing you with a thorough understanding of the science and engineering associated with marine vehicles, structures, and their design.In your third year you will extend your knowledge through advanced naval architecture modules, and carry out an individual project, bringing together the concepts and skills you have learned.Your Industrial Placement Year will enhance your employability, with an additional year-long paid placement in an engineering organisation. You will be able to apply the knowledge and skills that you developed during the early years of your degree, developing vital professional knowledge and skills to prepare you to become a professional engineer after graduation.You will have access to extensive facilities, which include dedicated student design studios and workshops, a 138m towing tank with wave maker, wind tunnel complex and a professional manufacturing centre. Our courses are fully accredited by the Royal Institution of Naval Architects, the Institution of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology, and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, and offer a route to chartered status.所属院系

为来自中国的学生设计 To be considered for a place on one of our undergraduate (bachelors) degrees, you will need: First year of a relevant degree from a high ranked Chinese university, with an average grade of at least 70-80% . National Senior High School Certificate (three years), achieving an overall Grade B (80%) with minimum B (80%) in subjects relevant to the chosen undergraduate course. Students completing two years of Senior High School should have achieved 85%, National Senior High School Certificate (for both two and three years), achieving an overall 85% with 85% in maths and physics. National Senior High School Certificate (three years) achieving 80% overall, with 80% in both biology and chemistry. Students completing two years should achieve 85% overall with 855 in biology and chemistry. IELTS 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 5.5 in all components.课程信息
