This unique highly certified master double degree puts you in poll position to take advantage of the shortage of professionally recognised accountants and financial planners.

In keeping with Swinburne’s strength in entrepreneurship and innovation, you will focus on cutting-edge technology and building an entrepreneurial mindset. Our strong links with industry and alumni will support your experiential learning with student-centred projects, sharing of insights, and providing real, topical challenges and mentoring.

With your advanced conceptual and practical knowledge, this double degree will prepare you for a career in accounting, taxation, financial planning, investment, banking, risk management or insurance.

As a combined program, you can to attain two sought-after master qualifications in the time it normally takes to complete one. Recognition of prior study and experience is available and may provide up to six units of credit, further shortening study duration.

This qualification is professionally accredited through CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) and the Financial Planning Education Council (FPEC) on behalf of the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA).

It has the approval of the Financial Advisers Standards and Ethics Authority (FASEA) mandated for all financial planners or advisors who practice in Australia.

Career opportunities

This suite of accounting courses provides an avenue for graduates to achieve professional recognition and help fill the shortage of professionally recognised accountants. As many graduates may already be established in a business career, the key vocational outcomes may arise from better current job performance together with new opportunities opening in the accounting and finance areas.

Aims and objectives

At completion of the Master of Professional Accounting, graduates will be able to: Apply coherent and advanced knowledge of accounting and business concepts in diverse contexts and applications using critical thinking; Apply problem solving, design and decision making methodologies to identify and provide innovative solutions to complex problems with intellectual independence; Communicate proficiently in professional practice to a variety of audiences, function as an effective member or leader of a team; Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, ethical conduct, professional accountability and a deep awareness of professional practices in a global and sustainable context; Apply accounting and business fundamentals to the analysis, design and operation of a business model using appropriate accounting methods and tools, applied in a variety of contexts; Reflect on and take responsibility for their own learning and self-management processes, and manage their own time and processes effectively by regularly reviewing performance as a means of managing continuing professional development and lifelong learning; Apply knowledge of research principles and methods to plan and execute a piece of research with some independence.

为来自中国的学生设计 Standard entry: A recognised three-year Bachelor degree with a minimum average score of 60 per cent; or A recognised AQF level 8 qualification in a cognate area, such as the Graduate Certificate of Media and Communication; Completion of the Postgraduate Qualifying Program with a minimum average score of 60%.
