With this dual program, you'll be prepared to lead, develop and grow businesses across all sectors of the economy. You'll learn to think like an economist and understand how people make decisions, how markets operate and how the world works.

This program allows you to combine specific business management studies with an area of study in the Bachelor of Economics.

During your business studies, you'll hear from industry guest lecturers, examine real-life case studies and undertake projects, placements and internships with leading businesses. With course content developed in close collaboration with UQ industry partners, you'll study topics including accounting, economics, law, marketing, business information systems and organisational behaviour.

The Bachelor of Economics will teach you how to question, analyse, model and predict behaviour. Economics is central to decision-making in business, markets, trade, government, health, and a range of other areas. You'll complete compulsory courses that will build your knowledge about key economic principles, theories and tools. You'll study topics including microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, and more.

You'll graduate from one of Australia's largest, most influential and most prestigious schools for economics. The school is home to more than 70 staff, including experts in energy and climate change, productivity and efficiency analysis, and development economics.

Innovation and Entrepreneurship

This major will show you how to take a new idea to market by building a new business from the ground up.

You'll first be introduced to basic principles of innovation and entrepreneurship, including the entrepreneurial mindset and process. Then you'll apply this knowledge in practical courses on digital innovation, social entrepreneurship and growth strategies, as well as technology and innovation management.

Through leadership development you will become a resourceful, creative and resilient innovation leader who delivers sustainable commercial and social value. Further extending your skill set, you’ll engage directly in a short placement or consulting project in a startup or commercial partner project.

You’ll also have the option to develop and grow your own business in an incubator or accelerator within the UQ entrepreneurship ecosystem or beyond. These deep immersion experiences will move you closer to commercially viable business solutions while establishing valuable networks with potential partners, investors, entrepreneurs and mentors.

To be offered a place in an undergraduate program, you need to have successfully completed Queensland Year 12, or a qualification equivalent to Queensland Year 12, with the required minimum entry score for the program you're interested in studying. English Language Scores: IELTS: Overall Band Score of 6.5 AND a minimum score of 6 in each sub-band of Writing, Reading, Speaking and Listening; TOEFL (Internet-Based-iBT): Overall score 87 with a Writing score of 21 and Reading, Speaking and Listening scores of 19; TOEFL (Paper-based): Overall score of 570 and a minimum score of 5.0 in the Test of Written English (TWE) and 54 in Listening and Reading; PTE: Overall score of 64 with 60 in each communicative skills section; CAE/CPE: Overall Cambridge English Scale (CES) score of 176 with a minimum score of 169 in each skill; BE: A minimum overall grade of 4 plus a minimum grade of C in all four macro skills.
