专业概况

Unsurprisingly, many biomedical scientists are pushing the medical boundaries and making a positive contribution to the world with the help of medical science. The Bachelor of Science with Honours in Biomedical Science programme provides students with a coherent and in-depth comprehension of the occurrence of diseases and how they can effectively develop clinical treatments and preventions.

This extensive programme is designed with the intent to allow students to demonstrate sound knowledge of the nature and role of scientific method and research design as well as data analysis. In addition, students will be markedly proficient in the rationale and principles of qualitative and quantitative analytical methods used in the scientific investigation of diseases, including the validation and interpretation of results.

Upon successful completion, qualified students will be awarded the Bachelor of Science with Honours in Biomedical Science by Cardiff Metropolitan University. By earning this degree, it serves as a steppingstone for students to prepare themselves for the next chapter of their academic studies at a Master’s or Doctorate level.

DIMENSIONS International College is an approved academic partner of Cardiff Metropolitan University for the above programme.

Objective

Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, genetics, cell and molecular biology, microbiology and immunology related to human health and disease.

Demonstrate understanding of the development and biology of disease at the cellular, biochemical and molecular level.

Explain the rationale and principles of qualitative and quantitative analytical methods used in the scientific investigation of disease, including the validation and interpretation of results.

Demonstrate understanding of the nature, and role of scientific method and research design and data analysis.

Appreciate the contribution of biomedical science to healthcare, modern science and the wider society.

为来自中国的学生设计 Academic Level: 3 subjects pass with “D” grade or above at GCE A-Level Exam including Mathematics; or successful completion of DIMENSIONS’ Foundation Programme for Higher Education (Level 3) or DIMENSIONS’ Level 3 Diploma in Hospitality of relevant discipline. English Proficiency: At least IELTS 6.0 or CAE Level 5 or pass the English Proficiency Test at equivalent level conducted by DIMENSIONS or a “Pass” with at least “C” grade for English Language at GCE O-Level. Applicants with Level 5 Diploma or Advanced Diploma in related studies may be considered for advanced standing into the final (third) year.
