专业概况

The Master’s program in Curriculum & Instruction - Science Education prepares individuals for a rigorous and rewarding career in science education. Students will undertake a concentrated plan of course work and professional activity in order to:

Become more proficient in teaching science

Gain an understanding of the nature of science, inquiry-based instruction, and environmental and science/societal issue investigations

Learn how to teach in a diverse and complex school environment

This will require, but is not limited to, the following:

Participating in local and state science education professional organizations

Designing and implementing exemplary science units that result in student understanding

Managing activity-oriented, student-engaged science classrooms

Constructing a portfolio that demonstrates achievement of program objectives

It will typically take 2 to 3 years to complete the degree if students are enrolled 6-9 hours per semester. Courses are offered in the evenings and during summer sessions.

English Language Proficiency Requirements: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) - The minimum TOEFL score required is 79 for the internet-based test. The minimum TOEFL score for the new revised paper-based exam is: Reading 20, Listening 20, and Writing 20. IELTS (International English Language Testing Service): The minimum IELTS score required is an overall score of a 6.5.
