专业概况

在这里学什么？ This programme is aimed at those wishing to pursue a career within environmental health.To qualify as an Environmental Health Officer (EHO) you must complete the programme of study and The Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (REHIS) Scheme of Professional Practice which requires the completion of a portfolio through learning in a relevant work environment.Your learning will include detailed consideration of health and safety, the management of risk, microbiological analysis, environmental health law, parasitology, measurement quality and processes, food inspection and pollution control.Rewarding roles exist within the public and private sectors in public health, noise pollution control, food inspection and pest control.UWS graduates work in both the public and private sectors in careers as diverse as restaurant inspectors, noise pollution officers, waste management consultants and health and safety advisors.This programme is the only one of its kind in Scotland to be accredited by REHIS and the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health – conditions apply, see website for full details.Career prospectsUWS graduates work in both the public and private sectors in careers as diverse as restaurant inspectors, noise pollution officers, waste management consultants and health and safety advisors.Placement/Work-based learningTo qualify as an Environmental Health Officer (EHO) you must complete the programme of study and The Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (REHIS) Scheme of Professional Practice which requires the completion of a portfolio through learning in a relevant work environment. This is the REHIS mandatory scheme of practical training.Professional recognitionThis programme is accredited by REHIS and IOSH. Please note REHIS require graduates to obtain a minimum of a second class Honours degree and also complete a REHIS approved one-year training programme to qualify as professional EHOs. Graduates can also apply to the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) to become a graduate member. If accepted they can use the designatory letters Grad IOSH, denoting those who are academically qualified to become Chartered Members, but are currently completing a mandatory IPD/CPD cycle.
