专业概况

在这里学什么？ This programme builds on the foundation established at dBs Music through the Sound for Games and Apps course, revitalised and reimagined to form a BSc (Hons) in Sound Design and Audio Programming. This highly technical programme is designed to enable students to enter a wide range of areas within the exciting and fast moving creative industries sector. The programme will develop professional sound designers and audio programmers who thrive on exploring all aspects of audio creation, manipulation and implementation within this rapidly growing area. From traditional areas such as music, film and TV to games, animations and apps via augmented and mixed realities, this course will provide students with the skills to compose, programme, transform and integrate audio across a wide range of digital media allowing them to maximise their potential as innovative sound designers and audio programmers. Whilst studying on this programme, students will develop a wide range of skills across a multitude of different projects all designed to help them create a professional portfolio of work ready to present to potential clients/employers. This starts with the fundamentals of audio recording alongside synthesis and sampling techniques and an underpinning of theories and research in sound culture. Having become confident and skilled in these areas students will begin programming and learning how to communicate interactions between physical and virtual domains. On completion of the first year students will be introduced to the implementation of adaptive audio and non-linear composition, working on the integration of sound within games engines, animations and apps. This is complemented with spatial audio techniques focusing on 360 degree sound placement processes. Students will explore creative coding for sound design and develop their own sustainable enterprise and employability plan for working as an audio professional, which includes organising and participating in a professional placement. In the final year students will create and distribute their own software app working collaboratively with a dedicated team, develop a range of innovative sound projects pushing the boundaries of audio interaction and undertake a major research project through the Honours Project.This highly technical programme routed in science traditions will produce graduates with a portfolio of highly transferable skills, facilitating a broad reach within the job market in areas such as Sound Design for film and TV, Sound Design for Games and Apps, Audio Post-Production, Music, Audio Coding, Game Audio Direction and Audio Implementation at many levels within the creative industries.Developed and taught by a mix of industry professionals, academics and experts in the field of audio education, this programme will be delivered at dBs Music Bristol combining state-of-the-art hardware, software and purpose a built sound design environment.
